Orchids & Onions
The San Diego Architectural Foundation holds an annual awards show that acknowledges both the best and worst in the city’s built environment. There hadn’t been a cohesive brand or logo for the event prior to 2011 when this was created (still in use today!). The brand’s unveiling happened to be the ceremony itsself, so I was fortunate enough to be able to help make the experience feel fun and full of what we nicknamed the “baubles”. Partnering with Bells + Whistles and tend, it was a colorful, otherworldly experience. One of my favorite parts was creating custom jewelry, and then decoratin a mannequin I found. I also laid 60 feet of adhesive vinyl onto the floor by myself. People walked on it because I guess they have no appreciation for ART.
